Module description
Professors' employment contracts generally define three pillars of responsibility: Research, teaching and committee work / self-administration. Administration accounts for around 20 % of the time, i.e. on average one day per week. But the tasks are often complex and can become overwhelming if they are not managed carefully. In addition, the newest colleagues are often put forward for thankless and time-consuming committees that others don't want to take on. Sometimes they find that not all colleagues have admirable interpersonal and diplomatic skills, despite years of working with them on committees, ideally as constructively as possible. How can professors best manage administrative and committee duties to make a positive impact and maintain relationships with colleagues while devoting time and energy to research and teaching? This workshop will address these very questions.
